SkateSpot
A concept for Elliot Sloan's Skate Spot, rethinking what a skate game looks like when it's built social-first for the Otherside metaverse. Developed in public.
- The premise
Skateboarding culture has evolved. Skate games haven't. Legacy titles were single-player, offline-first, and closed. Today's players expect loops built around identity, progression, and social participation, and Otherside already has the persistent world systems to support that.
- The gameplay
Easy to pick up, hard to master: skill-based skating with an arcade feel, park builder tools for custom skate worlds, and open zones alongside structured competitions. New mechanics like Co-Pilot Mode let a friend drop in for live coaching, while persistent XP makes the world itself react to how you skate.
- The loop
Community-curated maps with creator earnings, challenge ladders, creator-hosted events, and IRL drops tied to in-world activity. Ownership supports gameplay, not speculation: if items exist, they're boards, gear, and parks, and skill still matters more than wallet size.
